Laura Simms

"I do not use stories," Laura Simms says. "The stories use me." An American living in New York City, Laura has performed the spoken word for twenty eight years. She has been the resident storyteller at the American Museum of Natural History, in New York City, since 1979.

Laura recently joined the board of The Humanity Foundation and is advising our folklore initiative, which collects and publishes the traditional stories of endangered indigenous peoples. She adds, "to preserve their stories is to preserve the fabric of humanity."
